Soft and oil pastels used to capture the highlights and movement as the heron spread its wings for take off.
The insert is the same bird watching me coming closer, the main image is a combination of three photographs.

The stark outline of the Criffel is often highlighted by the wonderful sunsets. Even
though the Isle of Man is over 40miles distant it can, if conditions are right, be seen on the horizon.

Acrylic, box frame with stretched canvas, 13 by 12 inches.
The northern shore of the Solway is a treacherous area of shifting sandbanks, dominated for many miles with the brooding presence of the extinct volcano now known as the Criffel. The late summer sunset forming a backdrop that emphasises the Criffel.
